PhD student Xochimilco

Alessandro Valerio Zamora (Costa Rica, 1992) is a visual artist whose work focuses on bodies of water, exploring their connections with agroecology, biological processes, and oral memory.

Seeking alternative approaches to the artistic object, he creates spaces for social interaction with community members, fostering a pedagogical process as an extension of his practice. He is currently a PhD candidate in Visual Arts at UNAM (expected 2025). His work has been exhibited at the Museo de Arte Moderno de México, the Palacio de la Autonomía UNAM, and he has held three solo exhibitions in Costa Rica. He has also participated in group exhibitions in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, and Portugal.
