Mariana is a biologist (UNAM) with a master’s degree in Natural Resources and Rural Development from El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability Sciences at UNAM. Her experience and interests focus on community-based biodiversity management and conservation, sustainability assessments, the values attributed to nature, and participatory approaches that bridge scientific knowledge with the resolution of socio-ecological challenges in both rural and urban contexts.

Her involvement in Cocina Colaboratorio takes place in Loma Bonita, Chiapas, where she works on the co-creation of strategies for the transition toward more sustainable food systems through collaborative processes grounded in the management and diverse values of edible wild plants.
