Forest Scientist
Claudia Heindorf is a forest scientist and has a Ph.D. in Environmental Science. She is doing her postdoctoral research at the Ecosystems and Sustainability Research Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Her research includes the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and climate-driven disturbances on the local food system in the three research sites of CoLaboratory Kitchen (Cocina Colaboratoria) in Loma Bonita, CHIA, Santo Domingo Tomaltepec, OAX, and the chinampa zone in Mexico City.
She joined the CoLaboratory Kitchen Team in 2020. Despite her postdoctoral research she collaborates for the biocultural archive, does plant inventory, and works on the dissemination of knowledge about edible plant diversity in the local agroecosystems.
As part of her academic work, she has published different articles on crop diversity in indigenous land-use systems and traditional knowledge. Her work so far had a strong ethnobotanical focus. She also worked in Mexico, Bolivia, and Chile on sustainable forest management, adaptive agroforestry design, and urban agriculture.
